A Pleasing Diversion
On my way home from Ditton Priors I stopped by at the tiny settlement of Stanton Long, in the Corvedale.
The church of St Micheal and All Angels was the perfect diversion for a busy brain.
So peaceful, tucked away behind Yew and tall hedges you wouldn't know it was there.
It's joy is in the simplicity of style and design.
Consisting of just a chancel and nave, it has three stained glass windows and other understated plain lancet windows.
There are though, some engaging period features which include a weatherboard bell tower, a ring of three bells, and a wonderful 12c door which has some lovely ornate ironwork.
It is one that I will revisit in time, much to see and absorb, especially on such a warm and sunny day.
Please see extras....
Very late blip, I lost the entire image and script twice, not sure if it was me or the power outage in Spain that was the problem...
