The Pensioner

Another Jim

Awake before the minky came padding through to join us. She’d slept right through despite seeing the scary wicked witch of the west before bedtime. And after breakfast she wanted to watch the rest of it. The scary flying monkeys! A real pleasure to let her see it for the first time.

Then I’d a bit of work to do at the pontoons – mending a broken slat. Hero of Corinthia, me. Home to lie in the sun awhile and fall asleep like an old man.
And much later, along to Trinity Crescent to see David Starr from Cedaredge, Colorado. A man who runs a musical instrument store there on Main Street. What a lovely man he is, and a fine guitarist, singer, songwriter and raconteur. Here he is just before the second set, chatting to Jim Welsh, well kent figure around the local music scene – true story – Jim was brought up in this very house and hadn’t been back since his family moved out in 1954. In 2019 he got note of a house concert and came along to find it was his childhood home. Well, fancy that.
