Wall rebuilding project
The top pic is how far we got yesterday you can see on the left how it was and what we will be removing when we carry on, All the Ivy growing in the Hypericum,
the bottom pic shows how the wall curves round the garden. My husband built it years ago there was once a pond and waterfall on the top part of the garden with goldfish in it, but a great diving beetle got in the pond and ate the fish, I did catch it and took it far away to a stream. Then we got some ducks and they took to the pond but it became a real chore keeping it clean, so when the ducks went so did the pond.
So where did the ducks go you ask, to a farmer friend who's dad wanted them for the stream that ran at the back of their farm, They were Mallard ducks, I will have to see if I can find an old photo of them bathing in my sink. (They laid lovely eggs though and hatched a batch too, great fun.)
You can see Misty thinks the wall is just for her to sit on and she is fascinated by the removal of weeds and ivy and has spent ages hunting for frogs or mice, she brought me a really tiny frog the other day but she didn't like the taste and kept spitting it out, so I was able to save it, and she has found a new place to sit and sunbath
Today was cutting back a holly tree which needed quite a bit of pruning to make it a smaller bush, plus the removal of a couple of lilac saplings growing in the wrong place, My white lilac is just starting to flower.
Tomorrow is shopping day again, gosh it comes round quickly these days, so maybe not much gardening will be done, maybe back in the greenhouse I have some things to pot on.
