Portmeirion

This morning A and I went for a walk with Django, up through the Ceunant Llennyrch National Nature Reserve to the dam of Llyn Trawsfynydd and back. It's an ancient temperate rainforest forest that I visited two years ago on a guided wall. It was beautiful (see extras) and full of birdsong, but disappointingly dry after all the recent good weather.

After a quick bite to eat we took the 15 minute walk to Portmeirion, the architectural fantasy of Sir Clough Williams-Ellis. I'd visited it a couple of times, many years ago, but it was a first time for A. As well as being lucky with the weather, the beds if tulips were all out, and there were many azaleas and other bushes in flower. After exploring the village at our leisure, we combined the coastal and woodland walks, ending up at a gazebo offering this excellent view over much of the village. I've added a couple of extras.

It's warmer and sunnier today and, when we arrived back at the cottage, daughter K was working at the outdoor dining table with Django at her feet.
