Another special plant
A quiet day today - lots of catching up to do after being away. Photographs, emails, u3a stuff, much more. I must get back into the habit of going out for a walk everyday, but today I haven't been further than the garden.
I'd put some cuttings of my Nepal begonia (Begonia hatacoa) in water a while ago, and now that they've sent out many roots I've potted them up. Once they've grown on a bit I'll offer my large plant to anyone that wants it - I've done this many times when it gets too big for it's space in the living room.
My Blip today is of the Norfolk Island Pine I bought on the way home on Saturday. Not a pine at all, but Araucaria heterophylla, a relative of the Monkey Puzzle tree, native only to Norfolk Island, a tiny island some 900 miles east of Australia. Over the years I’ve grown this tree many times, but it’s not hardy and has to be brought in during the winter - unless, of course, you happen to live on the Scilly Isles!
Now that spring is in the air I really must get some of my many potted plants into the garden!
