Blossail
Yesterday we were joined by R, one of C’s best friends, who lives in Cornwall.
A morning in Mousehole, including Cornish Pasties by the harbour. Then we followed R’s recommendation and travelled over to Godfredy and a walk along the cliffs. The time there can be summarised as sea, sand, surf and surfers, seals, sand martins and shags (nesting on the cliffs). The weather looked very threatening at one stage, but we avoided rain.
Then we headed for St Day. R has a friend in the village, and we’re invited to the Blossail festivities. All very colourful, and many in the village had turned out. We meet at the clock tower and then head in procession to the community orchard to bless the trees. Two members of folk band Two Daft Monkeys lead the band, and we all sing the Blossail song they’ve written. Then it’s picnics, singing from the Suitcase Singers, inspection of all the trees ( lots of Cornish variety apples), before we head off to the ruined church for soup, cider and ale, cake - and more singing.
A fun day. A few temporary extras added.
