Crab apple blossom
Another in the “last of” series as we count down the days til we travel up to Cumbria next Sunday. This crab apple was resident in the garden when we moved in 2000. Its function was as a pollinator for the big Worcester Permain apple tree whose blossom I blipped earlier. The fruit from the crab has been used in the past to make crab apple and vanilla jelly.
This afternoon we had Doreen’s next door neighbours John and Conchita over for afternoon tea and cakes which we were able to have outside in the warm sunshine. They have been Doreen’s neighbours since she moved in 1977. We had the sad news of telling them that we were putting Doreen’s house up for sale and also that we were moving too.
It was a shock I think to them, they’re 87 and 90 respectively, Susan has known them and their daughter since 1977. Their daughter lives in Florida which given their age makes them very vulnerable and since Doreen died we’ve felt some responsibility for them. However, Conchita said that we have to do our own thing - and I think she understood.
