Life in a Northern Town

Guess who?

Post holiday observations:-

1. After 4 years of holidays in the US, the fact that so few French people are overweight really struck me. Yet it's impossible to buy low fat spread, and milk is like double cream.
2. In 90 degree temperatures, with almost 100% humidity, I look like I just stepped out of a steam room. French women meanwhile, float around cooly in linen dresses, looking like they just stepped out of a beauty salon.
3. Staff in shops/ bars/ restaurants can spot a Brit a mile off. I wonder if this is related to the previous 2 points.
4. Airlines encourage us to check in online, then at the airport the queue for the bag drop has 200 cross people in it, whilst the check-in desk has tumbleweed rolling round and one bored check-in clerk filing their nails.

Back to reality, I had to work today and my Mother is coming up for a week on Thursday. I need to clean behind things.

PS - meteor shower tonight!
