Loved being in my garden today.                        
Managed to figure out how to share contacts with everyone in my … this sounds so presumptuous … in my company. 

Ukraine caught a Russian ship carrying Ukrainian grain. It was flying under a false flag. It was transporting grain from Crimea. Russia has been stealing tons of grain from Crimea for years. This one had 5,000 tons of wheat. 

Desperately looking for positive Ukraine news I Googled, “Ukraine news cat.” Ok. 

In June 2023 there was a publication that a cat named Chloe was photographed in a Kyiv subway shelter to take cover from Russian attacks. Someone took a picture of her looking extremely displeased/grumpy while wrapped in a pink blanket. Igor Novikov, former advisor to Zelensky, shared the picture on social media and said, “We are all Chloe the cat at the moment.” 

There was another moment of levity in Feb 2024 when the Ministry of Defense posted a picture of a soldier carding a cat dubbed a “Special Forces cat.” The post had both the soldier and cat’s eyes concealed with a black bar over them. “Have you ever seen a Special Forces cat? The cat is extremely classified, so we have to obscure its face.” 

Cats have been companions for soldiers and have used them to deal with mice and rats that were destroying uniforms, blankets, and food. “Ukraine can’t lose, they’ve got a cat army.”
