1158 day of war
Hello, friends!
The situation in the country is becoming increasingly worrying, and right now we are all witnessing how they are essentially trying to divide us into different spheres of influence, and it looks simply horrifying.
This week started with the so-called 30-hour truce, which, it seems, existed only for the headlines. Russia uses negotiations as a continuation of the war, so for us, it would indeed be wonderful to have a full ceasefire for a significant period. It would also greatly ease life for ordinary people because the shelling is becoming more frequent and more destructive.
Just the other day, there was a very heavy attack with missiles and drones — they say it was the most massive ballistic missile attack since the beginning of the war. Unfortunately, there were many casualties and injuries, one of the reasons being the reduced number of air defense systems.
Last year, when the country received Patriot systems, we felt much better. There was a feeling of security, and a greater number of missiles and drones were being shot down. Now, however, the country has fewer and fewer defense systems, and Russia is taking advantage of this moment and increasing its attacks. We are holding on and trying to hide in shelters more often during air raids, but there is always the fear that at any moment a ballistic missile could strike, against which no shelter can help. We are left only hoping for the best.
The news these days is very upsetting. I still cannot understand how the U.S. administration, which initially supported us and was practically our ally, now seems to be siding with Russia
Statements about recognizing Crimea as Russian are a very bad sign, and even though this might not immediately change anything — it is a very painful issue for us. Because after this, other regions of the country could also start being recognized as Russian, and all of it would essentially legalize violent occupation, showing that this can be done without consequences.
One way or another, all these actions gradually lead to a situation where we might not have a country left at all, just as Putin dreams of.
I don't know why there is such a strong push against Ukraine and why there’s a desire to satisfy all of Russia's demands. We were just living our lives and never wanted a war, but now it feels like they see us as the ones who started it and who don't want to end it.
Of course, we want this to end, but it should not be through capitulation, after which we would once again have to flee as far as possible and search for a new place to live.
I could never have imagined what war from the inside would be like. Now I realize that it was impossible to imagine such a reality — that one dictator could deceive the whole world and no one could stop him.
On the positive side — there is a feeling that some real negotiations might finally be starting. After today's meetings, Zelensky sounded very optimistic.
The biggest problem, in my opinion, is that we really cannot do anything ourselves. The only person who can actually end the war is Putin, and how to convince him to do that — I have no idea at all.
I hope that Zelensky was able to communicate this clearly and that this truly becomes the beginning of a real peace process.
Thank you all for your support, and thank you for helping through buymeacoffee. It really helps a lot.
