U.S. Coast Guard Cutter George Cobb , in dock.
This is a coastal buoy tender based in San Pedro, California It is named for George Douglas Cobb, a lighthouse keeper along the coast of California. He is best known for saving the lives of two men whose sailboat capsized near the Oakland Harbor Lighthouse in 1896, for which he was awarded the silver lifesaving medal. He died in 1940, retiring after 43 years of service. Quite a life! NannaK ( HCB)
