Sighting of a Capercaillie!

Visited the RSPB reserve at Loch Garten , I love it there , the serenity of the peaty water of the Loch and the delight of the birdsong .
Drove to Golspie , walked up the river to a waterfall and were spellbound by all the lichen and ferns coating and dripping from the tree branches. A little , unexpected enclave of ancient woodland.
Part way round I spotted a Capercaillie, sitting in the branches of a tree , I don’t have the words to describe how amazing that was . A bird so rare and also so shy, the shimmer of its feathers were utterly beautiful.
Tonight we have a sea view from the main carpark at Golspie , we took an evening stroll along the beach hoping to find a sheltered spot where we could enjoy a glass of wine . We spied a newly constructed wooden shelter and were quickly joined by a chap , newly released from hospital who explained that he meets his buddies there each evening and then regaled us with tales of his life , fascinating. It’s always interesting to hear other folk’s stories. We were there for a couple of hours at least , hope he enjoyed the encounter as much as we did !
