Walking by Lac Saint Croix
A beautiful lakeside walk, the easiest walk so far. As well as beautiful trees, wildflowers and birds, including a nightingale, as on previous days, today was also added frogs, in very large numbers, croaking in the reeds on the edge of the lake. We could hear them loud and clear but were not able to see them. The main is where the gorge of Verdon joins the lake, the colour is made by a mineral which I think he said was fluoride. Two extras of walking around the lake. Because of heavy rains before we arrived the lake is much fuller than normal, and trees, as well as some of the benches, were partially under water. In the second extra you can see a little area under the trees where you might expect to see crocodiles:) In the third extra you see very high hills/mountains. The village we were heading for -Moustiers - to get the bus, was perched about a third of the way up so we had some steep, hot walking at the end. Though fortunately there was a cafe with cold drinks once we’d arrived.
