Leaving Seawinds
Left our cottage in Raw, 'Seawinds', soon after 10am and set off for Whitby. I managed to stop in a bus stop beside the top bridge to take a last minute picture looking down on Whitby, or rather on the east side of the town. The River Esk cuts the town in two. The Abbey is perched on the top of the hill.
Then it was back up the A171, through the Tyne Tunnel and eventually on to the A1, heading for Edinburgh where we'll be stopping to drop our daughter off and have dinner before going on to Glasgow for the night. We had a break at the wonderful garden centre in Dunbar - I only bought one plant, a Norfolk Island Pine!
Tomorrow I've a commitment to help judge the Scottish Rhododendron Show at Garelochhead, then we'll be off home after a pretty good week, in spite of less than amazing weather. I hope Rosie remembers who we are! Lots of things still to see in the Whitby area - maybe we'll be back one day. Certainly a very well appointed cottage.
