The Blues...

Today was a travel day ..the long drive home from my daughter's house. My intent was to take a rest break partway, but I managed to be in the outer lane of the freeway and could not exit when, out of nowhere, the last rest stop on my route appeared! Oh well...despite rebellious arms and shoulders, I still managed to get home safely.

One really neat thing happened before I left. When I woke up and look out the bedroom window, there, perched on the roof of the garage was a blue bird!  The first sighting of the season!  I had hoped they would arrive during my visit; it was a bit early for them, but there it was! Yes, it is a yucky photo - shot through a window with my phone, but ...it's a blip!

Blue seemed to be the colour of the day, as when I got home, those tiny blue scilla in the back yard were in full bloom...and oh yes, my daffodils and hyacinths were out too...so spring seems to be here! It was a lovely welcome back.

As usual, arrival-home day was spent unpacking, and trying to reassure the cat that all is well - that I did not abandon her, that I am back and scary strangers will no longer be showing up to feed her. She was, however, not amused and let me know it!

It was so good to get away for a few days and feel as if I was on vacation. It did show me that I could do more than I thought, but I still don't feel confident about having the physical strength to go on a major trip yet. In fact, I decided to turn down an offer of a house-sit on Grand Manan for a couple weeks in May. The travel arrangements to get there and back were less than convenient! I can still go later in the season if I want, so that may still work out. I have friends there I would dearly love to see. Meanwhile, I am still hoping to be up for an overseas one by the fall. Fingers crossed.
