Sensational Soapwort!

Well it is as far as I am concerned because it has finally flowered! My other half has wanted to throw it away for such a long time but I was sure one day it would flower and this year it has.

Did you know it yields a soapy sap which is excellent for laundering and revitalizing precious fabrics and I believe is used in some museums for this purpose.

It has a delicious raspberry-sorbet scent with a hint of clove revealing its family connection with pinks but it definitely needs a bit of evening sunshine to bring out the scent - please come back sunshine!
