Filterama Challenge - Bikes

I took several shots of this group of bikes in strong early sunlight, aiming to enter the second Filterama chellenge, proposed by hobbs and riversider.

My original idea was to try to imitate a pen and ink sketch effect. However, this particular image had a unique coloured shaft of light. I have no idea what caused this effect, but I felt compelled to use this shot and make more of the colour, using the Photoshop Elements Filter: Stylize>Solarize. So here is the result
