taking the beasts for a ride

We used the opportunity, got up with Max at some ungodly hour in the morning (well, the usual work getting up time) and took the train to Dresden. We made full use of our rail pass which meant taking only regional trains. The three hour journey was pleasant and we got into Dresden around 11ish. One of my highlights was seeing the Carola Bridge (1st extra) which collapsed some time last year. Luckily nobody got injured and so it is now just a sight. Dresden is, like most cities, quite a contradiction of old (or rebuilt) and new with plenty of pre-fab blocks of flats and the obligatory revolutionary mural (see 2nd extra). We just went for a wander and saved visiting any of the museums for our next visit.
