It's Not St George's Day ...
... but it is the official first day of the English asparagus season, which usually falls on St Georges Day. (Ours has been cropping for a while as it is under glass.)
Saint's days aren't observed if they fall between Palm Sunday and the second Sunday of Easter, they will then be celebrated the following Monday. So St George's Day this year is on Monday 28th April.
Even though I cut the asparagus hard the other day for my daughter to share with people at work, I managed to find some spears for him.
A man came early this morning to repair a puncture in one of my lovely new ride-on mower tyres. I was so pleased. I offered him some 'grass' but he doesn't eat it.
It is a month since MrQ's funeral. I still have three chrysanthemum and three carnation blooms looking lovely from his floral tributes. The bluebell plant that was in my sister's tribute has just come into flower under the apple tree. Mish and I took some asparagus in a vase and sat under it as the petals dropped like snow.
