The Morris Men are in town

We stumbled upon a convention of Morris dancers in the square in front of Exeter Cathedral - a strange mix of sacred and secular. At one stage we felt under siege as men in colourful, strange garb with bells strapped to their shins converged from every direction. They could never rush up and surprise anyone in that gear! After about an hour this splendidly attired male was the only one left, eating his lunch on the cathedral wall. On reflection this scene is timeless and could have been seen in any year in many a century.
