2025 Monday — Train Station
I’m not sure why a trip to the train station is fun, but it always seems to be. So when our friend Joyce asked us over a week ago if we would give her a ride home from the train station, our immediate answer was, “Yes!” She said she’d buy us lunch if we picked her up at the train station.
So when she got off the train, she said, “I’m taking you two out to lunch, where do you want to eat?”
I responded, “We’ll give you a ride home if you’ll let us do ‘Dutch treat’ for lunch.” She wanted to argue a little, but I said, “Joyce, if you are like us, you’ve spent too much money while you were on your week of vacation. So, let’s go Dutch treat.” She then was very agreeable and we were thrilled.
We asked if she’d ever eaten at the Madonna Inn and her immediate response was “that place is expensive!” and we said, “Nah, it’s not.” She had eaten at the Madonna steak House as a guest; treated by some friends. We explained that the coffee shop at Madonna Inn, the Copper Kitchen, is not expensive. So that’s where we ate lunch. The meal was delicious. As we exited the great big coffee shop, Joyce stopped at the bakery counter and wanted to buy 3 cupcakes; we quickly interrupted and said “make that two cupcakes; we’ll split one.” So that’s what she did.
Giving Joyce a ride home from the train station was our pleasure.
