This RAF Boeing C17A Globemaster III overflew the house three times this afternoon. Unremarkable maybe, but it was significantly louder than the commercial aircraft that come over our house, typically in the afternoons as they approach Birmingham Airport.
I was able to find out quite a lot about the aircraft as I could read the tail number from the shot. Even more surprising is that on one of the sites I found, I could see the track it took today as it left Brize Norton, flew up towards the West Midlands, completed three large loops across the area before heading off to Mildenhall in East Anglia. Apparently it reduced altitude to just 250 ft as it passed Birmingham Airport on each loop.
Amazing what you can find out on the internet these days.
