Autumn Has Arrived

Autumn rain has begun, and the wild mushrooms are popping up in the woods. I went out and tramped around in the woods, but surprisingly I didn't find too many. These were right in front of our house. Dwarf Dogwood/Bunchberry plants blanket the forest floor with white flowers in spring, and in autumn they are covered with red berries.

Autumn rain was welcome this year since it has been a very hot (75-80 F. is hot for us) dry summer. All the forests are very dry, creating high fire danger. There are some big fires in the interior, but not around here.
