The day after

Each time we run a volunteer scheme there are tweaks, we learn, try and improve.
Lots of happy chatter in our community today, all three of yesterdays new leaders have taken the next steps, have Walks ready to load onto the website, are making plans to support each other and the rest of their cohort who assess in a fortnight. It is simply wonderful to see.

I think my favourite quote in all of literature is Larkin's "what will survive of us is love", possibly only challenged by his beautiful ephemeral axe which echos oft in my mind.
A conversation late afternoon left me wistful; I found myself thinking I've no children though I know I helped a lot of lives hopefully change course as a fosterer. I often say I've no family, though I have, just not the bond that usually implies.
But.
I've my chosen family, and they, though few, are immense. I'll leave no genetic legacy, but I'm starting to see I might well have a charitable one, something to leave love in the world.

Sometimes on a walk I know it's all coming together when I fade into the background, as the walkers see they can, as they support each other, as they start to choose their own paths. I'm starting to have an inkling that in years to come that might, with grace and good fortune, be where Wellness Walks is.

Book news...
The first reviews are staring to appear, the very first from a Blipper. I've a happy tear in my eye tonight.
