Boys and their toys

Open day at the Tees cottage pumping station in Darlington. Very interesting and a reminder of how something as simple as clean drinking water was not so readily available a little over 100 years ago and with pretty dire results. There was an outbreak of typhoid in the late 1800s, so my great grandparents time that resulted in circa 60,000 deaths, unbelievable today.
