Green-winged orchid

This morning I visited Burrow Farm Gardens with a friend from the village. There was a plant sale taking place with a couple of dozen specialist nurseries selling a wide range of British grown plants. Some stalls and visitors had travelled miles so we were fortunate in that it's only about 3 miles away. There were hundreds of cars arriving even as we left. We tried to be very good and not get carried away but we still managed to buy quite a few plants each. Coffee and cake may also have been involved.
This afternoon I visited Clive along with Ziggy. Clive actually appeared to know us today which was a lovely surprise. I always say that my visits are like a variety box of chocolates - I never know what I'm going to get! He us rarely able to speak and can manage only an odd random word occasionally.
This is a green-winged orchid on our village recreation field. I walked Ziggy there first thing this morning and was delighted to spot the blue poles. Every year, whoever sees the orchids first marks their location with these blue poles so we know where they are and they don't get damaged. They are classed as Near Threatened and are a delight to see. We think they grow there because that field has never been ploughed or cultivated.
