It's grey and grim for
our Easter Sunday morning.
Friends will warm the day.

I was up at 6 and soon out the door heading for McArthur Island Park. I thought perhaps the car clubs might already be setting up in the parking lot of the recreation centre as they have an Easter Parade this morning. However, it seems they don't get up as early as I do. I had to make do with marmots and deer.

I drove along the route beside the river to get a look to the east for my mountains. I was surprised to find a Canada goose tucked into the cottonwood trees along the river bank. We call them 'cobra chickens' because they are known to strike. This one this morning certainly gave that impression.

The marmots were in great abundance, but very nervous. They would flee to the river bank and their burrows at the slightest provocation. I had to proceed slowly and quietly.

I was about to turn for home when I caught sight of three does along the edge of the slough. One seemed to be standing guard while the other two jumped up to get leaves above them. They soon drifted off into the trees.

My daughter is away this weekend, so I'm off to an Easter service with a friend this morning. Hopefully, I will meet some people I know there.

I hope everyone has enjoyed this Easter weekend.
