Happy Easter

I did my 1st pottery teaching lesson today! Mr W has recently taken a reduction in his working hours so I needed to increase mine. I couldn't hire out the studio any more than I do so thought a bit of teaching would help increase the wages a bit.

I worked out a lesson plan with an introduction and a bit of a chat to get to know my clients, a bit of clay talk then straight in with some throwing. I did 2 demonstrations before letting them loose on the wheel themselves. They said I made it look so easy! Great feedback.
After a coffee I showed them how to trim a pot on the wheel with some pots I had made previously. Something they could keep if they wanted. Both ladies chose a pot, trimmed it then decorated it with stamps.
We then went on to some hand building where I showed them how to make a mug - including the handle using the coiling method. Their results were "interesting"!!
They then chose what glazes they wanted before we finished the session. It over ran by just 8 minutes as I hadn't taken into account the fact they had to share the hairdryer to dry off their mug a bit but I'm glad I did a bit of lesson prep and had it all written down.

Mr. W kindly walked Bella for me so I could do a bit of my own work in the studio as I have a few commissions to work on including the 15cm flower pot. I finally managed it after the 3rd throw. Throwing bit is getting easier. I managed 17cm this time which should allow for shrinkage. I have decided instead of keeping everything I make, I should scrap anything smaller than the last thing I made!! Unless of course it's a personal order!!!

After a relaxing bath (I needed that!) we settled down to dinner, TV and an Easter Egg. I personally don't think you can beat a cadburys chocolate buttons egg!!!

Happy Easter!
