Many thanks for your call earlier, it was lovely to speak with you.  

We would be delighted to take over the lease on the flat once Marian departs on her adventure overseas. We popped in to see Marian earlier in the week, which gave us a chance to see the flat. It’s a great little place, ideal for what we need and we would take good care of it.

By way of some background about Symon and I, we are a professional couple and as you can tell from my accent, I’m from New Zealand. I recruit senior doctors to Australia and New Zealand. Symon is from Yorkshire and is an IT/Business Analyst contractor. We’ve lived in Edinburgh for almost 20 years and owned our own flat on the Shore since 2006. For family reasons, we have decided to move to NZ later this year, but we need to ‘get our ducks in a row’ first. So when Marian mentioned that she was leaving, it seemed ideal timing. We are very grateful that you are happy for us to become your new tenants. As explained, we need to sell our place and will spend a few weeks getting it ready for sale once we’ve moved out – by having an alternative base from April, from a logistical perspective, it will make things so much easier.

We would like to stay for 6 months as a minimum, then roll it over month by month. We would, of course, give you plenty of notice, once our plans are properly firmed up.

The monthly rent of £550 plus 1 month deposit is absolutely fine. We can set up a direct debit very quickly and we will liaise with Marian regarding meter readings etc.
