Pennan

I was up early today, a first for this week, so started my new book. It was a lovely day and our first port of call, when we eventually got going, was Pennan. It was just along the road from us. There’s not much to it, but it is a lovely wee place. We wandered, and avoided getting wet from the waves crashing over the wall. We pottered at the harbour, and it was lovely in the sunshine. The wee cafe had a sign up saying it would soon be open. We hung around long enough for the owner to appear with freshly baked scones and cake, still warm from the oven. We couldn’t resist, and enjoyed them in the sunshine, while I dried off from getting caught by a freak wave that came over the harbour wall.

We then drove on to Cullen, and did a favourite walk to Findochty. We passed the whale’s moo (extra), the bow fiddle rock (extra), and then enjoyed a late picnic lunch by the harbour in Findochty. We then replaced our steps, taking a detour for an ice cream and an ice lolly in Portknockie, then joining the railway path back to Cullen.

We used up what we could find in the fridge for tea. I the went out to see the sunset, before we watched Local Hero, in honour of our visit to Pennan. The blip shows the waves crashing over the sea wall.
