More days like this, please!

After the mania to yesterday, today was actually quite relaxing. Up early enough, and a few administrative chores. Highlight of the day was most definitely going for lunch with David.

David’s been in the metaphorical wars of late – well, his mum has, which, by extension, means he has too. The usual story of ageing parents in a distant location – in his case, California – and having to deal with illnesses and worries and the like. It’s been a while since I saw him, so we had plenty to catch up on. Thankfully, things seem to be getting back on the straight and narrow now. The problem with aging parents, though, is that you never know how straight or narrow the straight and narrow is going to be.

Post-lunch, I had a quick run to the LCBO to pick up a pre-order (Zubrówka vodka) and then home to laundry and a minor miracle. I’ve started redoing my photo albums with the excellent Bob Books (they are expensive, but it’s a one-off purchase and, I think, worth it for posterity’s sake). Stupidly, I’d been working on the craptop, as I didn’t want to have to go through the whole nightmare of transferring software and programmes and the like to the new computer. I went in to do another couple of pages when I noticed the previous work I had done had not saved. In high dudgeon, I slammed the craptop lid shut and went to download everything on the new laptop. Somehow, the photos had been saved on their server, so when I logged in again, everything was there. If I weren’t not drinking, I’d have poured myself a large one.

Evening… having splurged last night on Light of India, we came back down to earth with a “burger and salad” combo. Ottawacker Jr. and Mrs. Ottawacker will no doubt be pushing the boat out somehow as they start a four-day Easter break today.
