Canelé

Mr hazelh, Jon, and I tried canelé for the first time this evening (blipped). They were quite nice, but nowhere near as delicious as the éclairs that Jon used to bring for supper. Unfortunately the éclair shop has closed :-( 

I started my day at the Edinburgh Coffee Morning, then headed to the gym for my usual Friday pilates class (albeit now with Andrew rather than Marc), pounding on the treadmill, swim, and chat with Ali F. 

I was really tired this afternoon. This was mainly due a largely sleepless night worrying about Mummy hazelh. It was therefore quite an effort to prepare this evening's meal, plus a batch of parsnip soup for the freezer. In the middle of all this I made a bit of a mess of a mushroom starter. I think that the imprecision of the direction 'ajoutez un verre d'eau froide' in my French recipe book was to blame for this. I managed to rescue the dish with a dash of cream and handful of parmesan cheese. 

My tiredness showed in the evening games of Catan, the first of which was won by Jon, and the second by Mr hazelh. I did, however, beat the pair of them at Exploding kittens. 

Exercise today: 30 minutes on the exercise bike; pilates class; 45 minutes on the treadmill; swim (20 lengths); walking (19,499 steps including run).
