Flat packing
What's the best job for a sunny Good Friday morning? Why, it's flat packing. We put together the new bench (plus table) for the back garden (cheap and cheerful from VonHaus - not a long term solution). It took the two of us two and a half hours. I've never had so many problems with instructions. Plus we had to take bits apart a prodigious number of times. There is a way the whole thing goes together neatly, but each piece has to go in exactly the right why around, and it was not clearly indicated on the instructions what that was. Anyway, it's in place, and we used it later on for a quick beer in the garden. We also had lunch outside, still in sunshine at that point, at the picnic bench.
After yesterday's journey, neither of us was keen on going too far. I did get as far as one of the supermarkets to fetch some pizzas for an easy tea. We both went up to the garden centre for Mr A to get a couple of glazed terracotta pots to put in the back garden to give a more "finished" look. And I put together a sweet pea "feature" for one of the beds at the back, consisting of some pieces of bamboo and 11 sweet pea seedlings that I bought in a pot from the Hopetoun Garden Centre yesterday. I also planted out the coriander and sorrel I bought there.
In the evening, after supper, we had a gathering with L and A (whose evening this actually was, but we were hosting it on their behalf because they have an anti-social dog staying - but they brought the snacks and the additional booze supplies), N and A, and H and D. A good one, which finished shortly after Saturday had started.
