Tenbury Wells in the rain
It’s my birthday in a few days time and I wanted a cherry tree. We know that the local garden centres are supplied with trees by Frank P Matthews at Tenbury Wells.
We bought a Silver birch from them a few years ago and it’s doing well so we had a trip over there again today and bought a cherry tree and a Ginkgo.
The town of Tenbury Wells is quite interesting and is famous for its mistletoe and the fact that it flooded badly last winter! It’s a lovely drive over there through rural Worcestershire, interesting to see the hop growing support structures being prepared.
It was raining and chilly and a bit dismal but we had a coffee and a Welsh cake in a local cafe, ( it’s not far from the Welsh border) and went to the historic Round market for vegetables.
It was built in 1858 and is Grade 2 listed.
When the rain stops we’ll plant the tree!
And now I can’t stop singing Matthew and Son, (Cat Stevens)
