The Curious Case of the Combative Cormorants

Why is the case curious? I'm not sure that the combatants are REALLY upset with each other. I don't think it is a friendly greeting, but neither do I think it is an all-out battle.

And...what's with the 3rd bird? Why is he/she just standing there? Is she watching boys be boys?

The battle lasted 60-90 seconds, and then the birds stood next to each other like nothing had happened. Great fun to watch.

I did make another sunrise, without many birds joining me. Later, we helped put together a pottery giveaway in our condo association's skyroom (story to come later), and again went to see s-i-l Joy in the rehab hospital.
