Busy on the Heath
I met H this morning for a walk on Kelling Heath. It was busy, not with people, but with steam trains running and low flying aircraft. As you can see, it was a glorious sunny day until cloud came over late afternoon, and warmer than forecast at 15C this afternoon. After our circular walk on the Heath, we stopped at the holiday village for a cuppa. We went to see if we could see the baby red squirrels from the breeding programme there, but no joy. And no frogs in sight at the pond either. It was nice to get a photo of this steam train going past from by the pond. I've added another photo to extras of a different steam train at Windpump Crossing. We saw there'd been a nasty lineside fire near the crossing again, it's obviously a bad spot, the cutting is quite deep there. Then we saw three low flying military planes go over, one after the other and each lower than the previous one. I think they are RAF Airbus A400 Atlas planes. I had my short lens on, but got a photo so you can see it in Extras, plus another 'in context' photo showing just how low they fly. This afternoon I sat in the garden reading, just bliss.
