Time at the beach
N and I drove to Hive Beach, Burton Bradstock, later this afternoon to wallow in the fresh sea air. Although there was a breeze blowing it was warm and pleasant. This year there have been 30 rock falls along this stretch of the coast from the golden cliffs so that part of the beach was out of bounds. A girl was killed last year and now one can see a great lump of cliff which could go with little encouragement.
We sat for a while people watching, a couple of teenagers fished and caught 5 or 6 mackerel but put them back into the surf. Quite a few youngsters were swimming close to shore and the seagulls were swirling overhead. The Isle of Portland is just visible in the background.
We had a great time last night at R's 70th and met many old friends we hadn't seen for ages.
