On Tuesday while WhatsApp calling my daughter I found it very difficult to find the right words. You may call it brain fog, I wondered whether to call it dementia. Then I began to experience the visual aura that, for me, means a migraine.
Within 30 minutes my son and his partner arrived for dinner and I went from being unable to think of the words, to being incapable of saying most of them. My brain wasn't able to operate my mouth correctly, no matter how I tried, and the wrong words came out mixed up with utter rubbish. It was quite frightening and has never happened before.
I had migraines in my twenties, with the aura followed by a three day headache, but then I didn't have any for years and thought I'd done with them. About a year ago maybe I began to get the visual effects, the aura, for a little while but with no headache. I've no idea why it started again but they've become more frequent, just lately every week.
I walked to the surgery at 8am and got an appointment for today. The doctor is happy that I most likely experienced a migraine, but has referred me to the TIA Clinic to rule a mini stroke out. In the meantime I can't drive. Bother! I hope the appointment is soon, but Easter holidays will get in the way. Double Bother!
I made a batch of spiced cabbage and apple, and then walked up the allotment to put my beanpoles in.
