Birds & Blooms - 3
The third B & B in my series this spring, this one featuring the rather drab female House Finch. Although she's a "plain Jane" bird, she looks lovely nestled in the cherry blossoms. I was actually hoping to get a male Cardinal in the blossoms, but it was cold and windy outside and I got tired of waiting so I just went with what I had in front of me. I also got a cute shot of a nuthatch with just a bokeh of cherry blossoms behind it - see Extra.
I didn't sleep well last night so I'm dragging a bit today. I will probably take a nap this afternoon, especially since it's really too cold and blustery to enjoy being outside.
I tried to get caught up on the news this morning - it just seems like one bad thing after another right now. One of the things that is concerning to me right now is the language being used around autism, specifically referring to it as an "epidemic". To me, that runs a big risk of villifying children and adults who are neurodivergent. It separates them from neurotypical people and I fear that it can create social barriers that will help no one. I agree that research needs to continue as to possible causes but is it good to be classifying it as an "epidemic?" I don't think so.
