Welcome to Baltimore

We drove from Leesburg, where we are staying with family, to Baltimore, where my mum was born. 
My Grandpa was a joiner and came to NY with his friends as a young man. My Grandma joined him - I always thought, and still do, amazing to head out on her own from Glasgow in the late 1920s.
They married in Tarrytown NY and my mum was born in Baltimore where she lived until she was about 6 and the family moved back to Renfrewshire. She remembered people asking her to speak constantly - an American accent! 
My Grandpa always said America is a great place - but only  if you're doing well. 
Anyway - I'm glad we visited. A beautiful, rejuvenated waterfront. 
We then headed to Gettysburg - information overload - and then home for a family dinner.
