A mixed bag
Jess met a friend over at Bassenthwaite for a walk, she dropped me off on Derwentwater.
My plan was to photograph the Centenary Stone, a sculpture celebrating 100 years of the National Trust. The last time I tried the stones were mostly submerged, today they were high and dry. I faffed about for a while trying to get the right aspect, I suspect there is a better composition and will try to get back when they are surrounded by water but only an inch or two.
I moved on around the bay for a shot of St Herbert's Island (1st extra) then headed back into Keswick for a pasty and a beer.
On the way I switched genre for wildlife and bagged a Carrion Crow on slight incline with a deep backdrop which made for nice separation.
In Keswick after refreshments I switched genre to Street, there were a lot of tourists out and about to practice on, I enjoy the challenge of candid photography and trying to react to an opportunity to get an image which has a story. It's easier to find a background and wait for a subject than to hunt around for a composition analysing a subject and background in realtime.
This is typical photography day for me, I head out for one thing and get carried away with something else.
