Somewhen in history, this field boundary was planted with flowering cherry, instead of the usual hawthorn. Now grown out, it makes an impressive spring display for the best part of a kilometer, at the roadside between home and the orchard. In the orchard, blossoming is not as far forward as I expected. Plums and pear are still in flower, the apples are mostly holding back but one is eager to press on. Enough open blooms to attract the bees. Apple-blossom honey would be nice
