If you can't beat them...

Wasps nest.

A few days ago visits to the nest box by prospecting birds stopped.  I was at first puzzled, then on one of the videos I saw a wasp.  Action had to be taken.  After things cooled down for the day and the light was failing we opened the box.  A queen wasp shot out and away into the distance.  Good I thought the cold night might see it off.  I removed all traces of the nest from the camera.

Shortly after I lost communication with the nest box.  I tried all methods I could think of to re-establish the link.  I didn't want to disturb the box not knowing if there was anything inside.  Today I had to bite the bullet as all attempts had failed.

So I started with gentle taps on the box.  That would have flushed a bird had one been inside.  Nothing happened.  So I had to open the box up to get the camera.  The final method of establishing a link is to have the camera, beside the router along with the mobile that has the app.  Also you have to have switched off your mobile reception.

It is a fiddle getting the wooden plate out of the top of the box hence the fact the nest is not hanging at right angles to the front of the camera.  Luckily there were no wasps at home.  So the camera is back in communication and returned to the box.  Once again I have removed all traces of the nest.
