The things we are told to do and not do. This was one of those pay at the pump pumps! Shortly after this the petrol pump controller told me that I hadn’t paid for my last lot of fuel on 3 March and he had been waiting for me since then to ask me to pay.

It wasn’t a pleasant experience and I wasn’t in the mood to be conciliatory.

Long story. I went back an hour later to pay and have a discussion about the need for them to sort out what happens when someone’s card has been declined.

I exuded charm and we parted with him assuring me that help would always be available if we needed it at the pump in future…
