Pearbloom
The lower garden, still awash with primroses. The subject here is really the blossoming perry pear tree in the centre. Perry pears are small, hard pears that are only really useful for making the pear equivalent of cider, i.e. perry, a drink that's far more prevalent in this part of the country..
This particular tree probably isn't a specific variety, probably just self seeded. It gives an indication of how 'lost' this area was when we arrived - we could not tell which tree was responsible for the periodic bombardment of mini-fruits..
