Down at the pond
Today I went to the reserve very early (so I wouldn't miss the window cleaners who were due betimes). It was the best weather of the day, if not quite as lovely as it has been, so the pond seemed a good place to start with the reed buntings very active and the sedge warblers arriving. Instead my major sighting was of a pair of Cetti's Warblers. The female quickly dropped down behind an impenetrable hedge of bramble, which is possibly where their nest is, but the male remained singing from his perch in the sallow. The RSPB gives a wonderful description of their rather raucous 'song' - pwit pity-chewit, chewit, chewit. You've got to love it!
The remainder of my day (so far) has been a trip into town for a few bits and a couple of hours gently reading. And now, as K is not very well today, I have to go with her to walk Hazel. I don't think it will be a long one!
Have a happy evening xx
PS: As I expect you realise, we are now onto WFW25_02. I've put a note on the challenges page
