'Fighing Back!'

Street bins for different types of rubbish have proliferated in recent years. Generally rather ugly (though, in my view, not much more hideous than having big black 4x4s parked there), their positioning is often contentious. 

When they appeared in a local street of 1880s Edinburgh tenements a couple of years ago, this householder responded by building a high fence around the front of his property so he wouldn't have to see them.

I am not sure whether the fence is much of an improvement, but it's a matter of taste, I suppose!! 

Note the lovely art deco 'sunrise' gate next to it!
