House guests
We both slept well after the excitement of the wedding and headed down to breakfast before 9 - with which effort we were quite impressed! Both bride and groom made it too. There was a lovely happy atmosphere, it always amazes me how quickly a sense of community can grow. There were only 62 of us so it was a manageable sized group in which to work out who people were.
Mindful of Ali's friend who has looked after the two little girls for the last almost 24 hours, we headed off up the motorway quite quickly. We weren't able to go back the way we'd come as the A701 had been closed overnight due to a wildfire just north of Moffat. We were pretty sure it would be out however, the road closed signs, which to be honest weren't very convincing, or even clear which road they referred to, were still in place so we decided not to risk it. M74 and via Abington it was, not my favourite route. Having said that we were very impressed with the A702 until it got into Lothian, the road surface was in very good condition until then .
We picked up the girls and headed over to our house. Colin was in the final stages of packing to go to the States and the girls were persuaded that he didn't really need help, lol.
They had a great time playing together and not a tear for their absentee parents thank goodness.
Katy and Isobel came up to say goodbye to Colin and give him his birthday present before he left. Eilidh has been in Amsterdam this weekend on a Guide Challenge event. I'll hear more about it I'm sure once she is back. Quite an adventure for an 11 year old girl to be in Amsterdam without a parent.
We managed to get the girls happily off to bed and headed off ourselves fairly early with fingers crossed for a quiet night .
Oh and I finally saw a ladybird in the garden today
