London Landmarks Half Marathon
BACK BLIP
Daughter two and her wife ran in this to raise money for the RSPCA. They had a minimum amount to get and they both smashed that figure. A great effort.
We went up to encourage them. It was a moving experience seeing all these people putting so much effort into fund raising for their nominated charities. There was all shapes and sizes, some (not many) looking fit and in control, many more looking as if all they wished for was the finish line. We had been told the best places to stand and to bring anything noisy. Two whistles and two vuvuzelas seem to fit the bill.
Met up with D3 and the Germ Monster. He immediately took one of the vuvuzela's and blew it repeatedly, much to the "pleasure" of a couple of ladies standing nearby. A vuvuzela, for those who have not come across this musical instrument, sounds like a bull elephant with toothache. They have been banned from World Cup football tournaments and have been described as "an instrument from hell".
We had lunch in Leadenhall Market, subject of the blip, and then on to Trafalgar Square to meet them at the finish. One of them would have done it again she was so high, the other wouldn't. Then a sit down with tea and cake on Piccadilly then drive home.
They did half a marathon, we did more than 10k just following them around London. Good exercise for all of us
Great day
