The Family Fox 1...

A neighbor, who enjoys seeing the photos I post on 'Nextdoor', contacted me about a photo op. A family of foxes, parents and two kits, live in a small wooded area near his home. He sent me directions, including an arial view of where he sees the kits playing at dawn and dusk.
Florida has two species of foxes; the red fox and the gray fox. These are red foxes. Red foxes aren't considered 'native' but 'naturalized' and can be found throughout the state but mostly in North Florida. One good way to tell a red fox from a gray fox by the color of the tip of its tail. Grays have a black tail tip while reds sport a white tip. Here is an excellent article by the University of Florida about foxes. UF/IFAS 'Stories of Gratitude for the World of Wildlife: Foxes The photos above are of the parents and two, still very playful, kits. I'll share more of my Fox Family photos with you over the next couple of days. m
